I travelled via Easyjet from Luton to Aberdeen to visit Barrem Motors, the home of the Rover 800 Haven. Arriving at Aberdeen Airport I was greeted by Rab Riggs's brother in Law Gavin and his immaculate 1991 820 Turbo Saloon, a very rare beast in metallic Nightfire and also fitted with a Mk2 bonnet.
Weather was pretty bad and I got back to Rabs and was confronted with the most beautiful Vitesse I have seen. The 1989 Vitesse 827 in Flame Red had my name all over it. The condition was immaculate, the mileage was sitting around 58,000 and the engine bay was a clean as a whistle. Money changed hands, insurance was arranged and I began on my 700 mile journey back to Glastonbury, Somerset. This took a total of 15 hours and included an overnight stop in a welcome break.
Arriving home I changed the oil on the motor, changed the filter and vowed change it again in 3000 miles time, this means that the non existent tappet rattle shall stay quiet.
A few things need sorting such as the heated rear window and the electric windows are a little sticky, otherwise I am pleased with the car. Expect to see Air con, leccy seats and such like being fitted at some time in the near future.
